Plot: WARNING!: Big Spoilers!
Dr. Okubo and Dr. Gondo of the psychic center
of G-Force, have developed a device to control Godzilla. The
project to try and control Godzilla is dubbed "Project-T."
They ask Miki Saegusa to use the device, but she refuses. The
psychic center dispatch two Lieutenants named Sato and Shinjo
to Birth Island to shoot the Godzilla control device at, of course,
Godzilla. They meet up with Major Yuki, a man who says the only
thing keeping him alive, is the urge to kill Godzilla. He developed
a bullet, which he nicknamed "Yuki Special," that if
shot near the shoulder, could kill Godzilla. His friend was killed
by Godzilla (in Godzilla vs. Biollante ) after he shot
Anti-Nuclear-Energy-Bacteria inside of Godzilla's mouth. Later
on, they discover that Baby Godzilla has grown! This time he's
called "Little Godzilla." Out of all the monsters Toho
have made for the Godzilla series, Little Godzilla is the armpit
of them.
U.N.G.C.C. (G-Force), has developed a new
Godzilla counter-defense weapon, dubbed M.O.G.U.E.R.A. (Mobile
Operation Godzilla Universal Expert
Robot Aerotype), and boy oh boy, can it look any
more cheesier! I guess the Japanese tax payers were pretty mad
after Mechagodzilla was destroyed, so G-Force had to build a
much cheaper version of him! (Some Godzilla fans nickname M.O.G.U.E.R.A.
"Woody Woodpecker"). Anyway, M.O.G.U.E.R.A. is able
to split into two different segments. One is the Star Falcon,
which can fly, and one is Land M.O.G.U.E.R.A., which can burrow
underground. It can also fly into space. G-Force later catches
a strange object moving towards Earth. They launch M.O.G.U.E.R.A.
to fight him, but is easily defeated in a plastic asteroid field
(you'll see if you decide to get this movie).
The two annoying twin fairies from Godzilla
vs. Mothra, are back! They come to Miki Saegusa and warn
her of a monster that has come to Earth to destroy Godzilla.
Miki then agrees to join "Project-T," so she can help
Godzilla defeat the monster. She goes to Birth Island, along
with Dr. Okubo and Dr. Gondo. Godzilla soon shows up. Yuki tries
to kill Godzilla with his homemade bullet, but misses. Sato and
Shinjo hit Godzilla with the control device successfully. Miki
tries the device out, which works for a while, but later burns
out. Sato and Shinjo then decide to join Yuki to kill Godzilla,
but the monster that M.O.G.U.E.R.A. fought in space, lands on
Birth Island. Miki discovers that the monster looks like Godzilla.
It is later found out that the monster and Godzilla have the
same cells and is named "Spacegodzilla." Spacegodzilla
sees Little Godzilla and asks him to give his uncle a big hug!
He uses a swirling corona beam, which comes from his mouth, to
attack him. Godzilla shows up to meet with his evil twin. While
Spacegodzilla is winning, he decides to fly away from Birth Island.
Dr. Okubo is later found out to be part of
the Japanese Mafia (Oh my!). He kidnaps Mikia and transfers her
powers to a computer so he could use the Godzilla controlling
device. The control device, like before, burns out. Yuki, Shinjo,
and Sato invade the Japanese Mafia, and later rescue Miki. While
Okubo is attempting to fix the computer, Spacegodzilla comes
and destroys the building. Yuki, Shinjo, and Sato are assigned
to fly M.O.G.U.E.R.A. and fight Spacegodzilla. Yuki, being the
moron as he is, decides to fight Godzilla, but Shinjo knocks
him out and ties him up. They then go to Spacegodzilla and are
easily knocked over. Yuki wakes up and wakes Shinjo and Sato
up. They decide to split M.O.G.U.E.R.A. into the two different
segments. Godzilla shows up, and he and Spacegodzilla duke it
out for a while. M.O.G.U.E.R.A. is then placed back together,
but Shinjo and Sato are forced to escape. Yuki decides to stay
inside and kill Godzilla with his bullet, but fails yet again.
Spacegodzilla loses some of his power, and Godzilla absorbs it.
His fire breath, like the last movie Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla
II, turns into red. He uses the fire breath to blow up Spacegodzilla.
Then, after Yuki escapes, Godzilla destroys M.O.G.U.E.R.A. Godzilla
walks back into the sea and heads towards his home on Birth Island.
Somewhat of a disappointment. I have the dubbed version
of this movie by Sony/Tri-Star. Let me just tell you, the dubbing
is TERRIBLE! I don't think I have to give any examples here.
I would have to write the whole script for the movie. The special
effects in this one weren't exactly great. In some scenes you
can see some strings from Spacegodzilla flying, also you can
tell that Spacegodilla's crystal fins are made of plastic. One
thing I really hated about this movie was Little Godzilla. In
Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II, Baby Godzilla looked and acted
like a real animal most of the time. In this movie, Toho decided
to make Little Godzilla a "cute," anime styled monster.
Little Godzilla just looked too fake. He didn't look or act like
a real animal. Also when his mouth opened you could see white
wires and screws in the back of the mouth! I always cheer on
Spacegodzilla when he attacks him on the island. I always hope
somehow the movie will all of a sudden change and Spacegodzilla
injures Little Godzilla badly (actually, I don't. I just like
exaggerating a lot). There are a quite a few model scenes here
and there. M.O.G.U.E.R.A looks fake in most of the scenes. Enough
said. Please don't get me wrong, thinking I hated this movie.
Actually, Spacegodzillla is my favorite Godzilla foe! Anyway,
if care about the acting is and so on, buy the subtitled version.
If you don't care, then just go ahead and buy the dubbed version
and complain about Tri-Star's poor dubbing job after you see
the movie. This movie would probably have a higher rating if
there was no dubbing.
