Director Shusuke Kaneko decided to change Godzilla's appearance for the 21st century when he took the director's seat for Godzilla-Mothra-King Ghidorah: Daikaiju Soukougeki. Kaneko wanted the design to be modern, but preserving the original Godzilla design of the 1950s. This suit is the tallest Godzilla suit to date (7.2 ft tall). Godzilla's color changed from green to his original color of charcoal gray. The oversized, jagged dorsal fins of the last suit were put to rest, bringing back the original smooth, curvy design that were on all of the previous suits before Godzilla 2000: Millennium. The fins also don't have the rose tint of the last suit. The two pointed ears on the side of the head The middle dorsal fin row is long with the side rows approximately half the length of them. Godzilla's scale-like skin replaced the "spiky" skin of the previous suit. The head was also made slightly shorter and less angular than the previous suit. The two long "fangs" that existed on the original suit were brought back. The most prominent feature on this suit is that Godzilla has no pupils. Kaneko made the eyes white because he wanted Godzilla to look evil and menacing. He believes (and myself on a personal account) that the eyes play a major role on how audiences percieve Godzilla.
