Godzilla
vs. the Sea Monster, Godzilla's Revenge (via stock footage) |

Many people seem to confuse what Ebirah is. He's
been called a shrimp, a crab, and a lobster. Heck, I betcha'
he's even been called a crayfish. So what is he? Well, the name
"Ebirah" comes from the Japanese word ebi, which
means shrimp. In the movie Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster,
he's called a "mammoth lobster," at least in the dubbed
version (I'm guessing he's a shrimp in the Japanese version,
but don't take my word for it). I like to call him a lobster,
just because I like lobsters, but I don't like to eat them. I
feel guilty every time I have to put a lobster in a pot. Oh,
who cares. Anyway, Ebirah lived off the island of Letchi, where
the Red Bamboo orginization were planning to conquer the world
with nuclear weapons. The Red Bamboo took slaves from Infant
Island, the island where Mothra and her people lived. The slaves
from Infant Island were forced to make a yellow liquid from a
certain fruit, when poured from a ship, keeps Ebirah from attacking
it. Nita, one of the main characters in Godzilla vs. the Sea
Monster, helped the slaves from Infant Island make a phony
batch of the yellow liquid. While evacuating the island, the
Red Bamboo people took the phony batch, only to be killed by
Ebirah. Godzilla saw Ebirah, and ripped both of Ebirah's claws
out during the final battle. Ebirah swam away, and the Infant
Island slaves and the main characters of Godzilla vs. the
Sea Monster were safely transported back home by Mothra. |
